The Silver Ship Series

The Silver Ship series begins with the Endeavor award winning novel, The Silver Ship and the Sea.  This is my debut solo novel.  The story explores one way that human prejudice might play out when the differences between people are truly more than skin deep.   Six genetically improved children have been left behind on the colony planet Fremont, where the inhabitants mistrust anyone who is not an “original” human…

Reading the Wind continues to explore war and prejudice in a time when genetic enhancements are the norm and humans live in a world even more saturated with information than ours.  Come see the wonders of The Five Worlds, and spend a bit more time in the wilds of Fremont.  Ride a hebra, see the start of horrible attempt at genocide, and rail and weep and fight.  Learn how powerful the love between a brother and a sister can be, and the dangers that this love can overcome.

In Wings of Creation, our heroes are challenged with betrayals they never expected on a planet that appears to be the epitome of peace.  At least, on the surface.  In order to convince the planet Lopali to go to war, the children must change other beings at the cellular level and free a race of winged humans that has been enslaved since it was created.

All three books are available in electronic and audio versions (at  There is a fourth and final book planned:  The Making War.  These are very much anti-war books, although they also show up in lists of military science fiction.  Perhaps the best way to celebrate peace is to write about the dangers of war…

Visit The Five Worlds for free fiction set in this world, a fun little dictionary, and other content.  It’ a bit retro, but it was great fun to write.

I am a writer, public speaker, and a futurist. I’m interested in how new technologies might change us and our world, particularly for the better.

I’m excited about my most recent book series, a duology called “Ruby’s Song” which includes the books The Creative Fire and The Diamond Deep, both published by Pyr.  I’m also doing a non-fiction blog series, Backing into Eden, which comes out roughly twice a month and explores ways to care for the world, now and in the future.
